Volante inks $6.7m federal outsourcing deal

Volante Group today won a $6.7 million three-year IT contract with the Department of Finance and Administration.

The deal comes into effect in November providing maintenance and support for the department's desktop, mid-range and storage infrastructure.

Volante's chief operating officer, Hugh Bickerstaff said the win demonstrates a local company's ability to compete successfully in a market that is historically dominated by multinationals.

He said the department's decision was based on overall value for money.

It is the vendor's fourth major managed services contract with the federal government.

In March 2003, Volante won a $9.4 million, three-year contract to provide on-site IT support for all electorate offices throughout Australia; and earlier this year the company won a $16 million, four-year outsourcing contract from the Department of Transport and Regional Services.

In June 2004 Volante’s contract to supply IT services to the Group 8 federal government agencies, with a potential value of up to $40 million per annum, was extended until June 2009.
