FrontRange helps organisations reduce time and effort to roll out Windows 7

FrontRange Client Management SuiteTM now offers full support for Windows 7 OS deployment and application management
 • 16 December, 2009 11:47

FrontRange Solutions, the developer of Infrastructure and Service Management software for mid-sized and distributed enterprises has announced it has enhanced its Version 6 Client Management SuiteTM solution to provide full support for Windows 7 packaging, deployment and ongoing management.

Matt Fisher, product director at FrontRange Solutions, commented: “The popularity of Windows 7 has taken many organisations by surprise, and they are already seeing the operating system appear on their networks. At the same time, analysts are warning that the average organisation will need 12-18 months to plan and execute a Windows 7 roll-out. Many organisations are already behind the curve, so there is a clear need for solutions that can help both plan and deploy the new OS, as well as providing the capability to manage PCs on the network that already have the new OS installed.”

In addition to Windows 7, the FrontRange Client Management Suite has also been enhanced to provide full support for Windows Server 2008 (and experimental support for R2) deployments as well as Citrix XenApp 5 and 64-bit environments.

For Windows 7 deployments, FrontRange Client Management Suite uses the latest Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE) 3.0 technology – providing a faster and more reliable build of the operating system.

Fisher concluded: “Whether an organisation is actively planning a Windows 7 deployment in 2010 or not, the influx of the OS onto the corporate network means they need to be able to manage it now. Otherwise there is a high risk that the network will be compromised due to a lack of centralised control when it comes to application management and PC configuration.”
