Talend to release integrated data management tool

Three into one will go

Open source data management company, Talend, has pulled together its data integration, data quality and master data management (MDM) products into one integrated release. The company said that Talend 4.0 would offers users higher productivity and lower operational costs.

Announcing the new software, Yves de Moncheuil, Taland's VP of marketing said "We were getting feedback from our customers that they wanted a complete integration of all our products into a single platform.

That was something that was completely in line where the market is going where customers are looking to streamline their technology." He said that customers who previously were only using one of Talend's products wouldn't see much of a difference but those who used two or three of them would really benefit.

There are three new features in the integrated product. Firstly, a single development studio based on Eclipse will offer users consistent ergonomics and a high-level of reusability. Second, a common metadata repository will allow sharing of vital information assets including user data, application metadata, business rules, data validation and workflows.

De Montcheuil said that having all these rules within one repository would be a great asset for developers working across projects as well as meeting regulatory requirements.

Finally, the Talend 4.0 offers developers a unified environment that allows them to use a single monitoring console for their development and also offers real-time execution reporting. The new tool has received some analyst support.

"There is clearly a growing demand for integrated solutions to address a wide range of issues that companies grapple with every day," said Ted Friedman, a vice president at Gartner.

"Organisations that take a strategic view of information infrastructure and effectively standardise on key technology components for understanding, governing, and delivering information assets will gain substantial business benefit."

Talend 4.0 is available now, in both free and commercial versions.
