Suncorp inks three-year mobility contract with Telstra

Mobile workers to benefit most

Financial services group Suncorp has announced a three-year contract with Telstra to deliver all the company’s mobile voice and data services.

Telstra will reinstate its long-standing relationship with the financial services group to provide a portfolio of hardware devices to employees and refresh the Next G network wireless data cards.

According to Telstra, the deal includes the deployment of smartphones and Turbo Elite modems that should deliver a faster mobile broadband service.

Suncorp’s group executive for business technology and former Telstra CIO, Jeff Smith, said the decision to continue Telstra’s services was based on the robustness, speed, reliability and performance of the Next G network.

“After an extensive evaluation of all the available providers and market offerings, Telstra was able to demonstrate that it understood Suncorp’s unique and geographically diverse service delivery model, both from a customer and employee perspective,” Smith said.

“As a service-based organisation, responsiveness regardless of geographical location is critical. The Telstra offering gives us the breadth of coverage and technological advancement we require to remain competitive and continue to deliver high levels of customer service, whether our employees are in the office or on the road.”

Over the past few years Suncorp has aggressively modernised its IT infrastructure with projects in virtualisation, data centre consolidation and unified communications.

Telstra enterprise and government executive director for national and strategic accounts Paul McManus said the solutions provided to Suncorp would help improve its customer service standards and realise improvements in productivity.

“By leveraging the Next G network, Suncorp is able to increase executive mobility, productivity and accessibility across a diverse geographical spectrum,” McManus said.
