Oracle announces service bus for SOA

The Oracle Service Bus 11g helps turn complex architectures into flexible application networks and provides caching and governance

Oracle announced this week Oracle Service Bus 11g, an enterprise service bus providing integration services in SOA environments and featuring improvements around caching and service governance.

The product upgrade transforms complex application architectures into flexible application networks, Oracle said.

A key capabilities in Service Bus 11g is Service Result Cache, which seeks to eliminate latency times associated with frequent access of static back-end data. It does this via a single-click enablement of service result caching, assisted through integration with the Oracle Coherence in-memory data grid.

Automated lifecycle governance in the ESB offers synchronized service governance with the enterprise repository throughout the service lifecycle, from design through development and deployment. This integration between the ESB and governance reduces errors and improves time to market, Oracle said.

The ESB also is designed to integrate enterprise data centers and public cloud infrastructures.

"As customers expand their service infrastructure to include more disparate services from clouds and other external sources, the need for high service availability and performance dramatically increases," said David Shaffer, vice president of product management, Oracle Fusion Middleware, in a statement released by the company. "The new features in Oracle Service Bus 11g eliminate performance bottlenecks and ensure high service availability so customers can dramatically improve the performance and scalability of their SOA investments."

Performance and availability have been improved in the release, Oracle said. Service Bus 11g is both a part of the Oracle Fusion Middleware family as well as a component of Oracle SOA Suite 11g.
