Port Authority begins ECM rollout

Main driver was compliance

The Townsville Port Authority in Queensland has inked an enterprise content management (ECM) deal with Objective Corporation.

It is the first information management contract to be signed by the port authority, which has already begun the rollout, which is expected to be completed by December this year.

Objective will provide an ongoing corporate information repository to manage a range of physical and electronic information such as engineering drawings, plans and digital pictures used for construction and maintenance.

It will have a central repository that will contain business-critical knowledge for draftsmen.

Townsville Port Authority manages about 10 million tonnes of cargo on the 700 ships that pass through the port each year.

As well as the improved information management, Townsville Authority wanted a solution to support compliance with the Queensland Public Records Act 2002 and Queensland government Information Standards 31, 40, 41 & 42.
