SA government tenders for hardware panel

PC and server contracts worth $432 million over six years

The South Australian Government is looking to establish a panel of manufacturers for the supply of desktops, notebooks, netbooks and server equipment.

The state currently buys this hardware through Acer, Dell and HP in a contract which ends in June next year.

According to tender documents released by the state's Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure, it is looking to reduce costs through the arrangement, as well as providing flexibility and choice to its departments and agencies.

The state wants to sign three-year contracts with the successful suppliers. There is the potential to extend the deals for a further six years, making the total combined value of the arrangements $432 million over the period.

An industry briefing will be held on Thursday, 30 September 2010 in Adelaide.
