Microsoft Australia managing director, Tracey Fellows, is set to leave local pastures at the end of the year for a new role as area vice president for the Asia Pacific region.
Fellows will be responsible for the sales, services and marketing for 12 countries in the region as part of the new, Singapore-based role. She will report to the president of Microsoft International, Jean-Phillipe Courtois.
“Finalising a new Australian team lead is one of Tracey and Microsoft’s immediate priorities and that process is already underway,” a Microsoft Australia spokesperson said in a statement. “Tracey will continue to act as the Australian Country Manager until a strong new leader is in place. Our focus is on finding the best candidate for the role.”

Fellows will take over the role on 22 December, relocating from Sydney, replacing Emilio Umeoka who will relocate to the US to pursue new career opportunities.
According to Courtois, Fellows has become a highly respected and popular leader in the technology community, as a result of her work with Microsoft Australia.
Prior to joining Microsoft in 2003, Fellows held senior roles at Dell and IBM.
“The Asia Pacific region is incredibly diverse and dynamic,” Fellows said. “It is also a place where we can do much to deliver on our mission to make technology available to the next generation of users, and I am keen to make the most of the opportunity to work with our partners and governments around the region to deliver on that commitment.”
Microsoft’s Asia Pacific region includes subsidiaries in Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
