Queensland electricity network provider, Powerlink, is looking for business intelligence (BI) platforms as it begins a BI pilot to integrate its reporting, query and analysis needs.
In department documents, the provider states that it has recently defined a new data warehousing and BI architecture which needs to be validated through implementing new technologies and infrastructures.
“This new architecture includes the existing SAP Business Warehouse implementation and focuses on addressing information delivery,” state the documents.
“While a handful of client based reporting and query and analysis tools exist, there is no consolidated approach to deliver information across the enterprise.”
The documents also state that data acquisition and consolidation output will be delivered by Powerlink’s IT operations.
Prior to commencing the pilot, Powerlink will build a data warehouse, data store server environment, data services server and BI server to support the platform.
The company also plans to provide a database containing necessary data so the provider can complete the pilot.
The BI pilot is expected to be completed by mid 2011.
The news follows a Windows 7 migration of 1300 desktops and laptops that the provider began in November last year.
