South East Water's former CIO, Marcus Darbyshire, is now executive partner at analyst firm, Gartner.
Major Victorian metropolitan water retailer, South East Water, is on the lookout for a new CIO to develop and build its IT strategic plan.
The utility has approximately $2 billion of assets and about 800 information workers, and provides water, sewerage and recycled water services to about 1.4 million customers in Melbourne’s South Bank, Mornington Peninsula and Gippsland.
The successful applicant for the position, which is advertised on recruitment website Seek, will report to the general manager of corporate services and help to develop an IT strategy around the utility's ‘Delivering Water Solutions for a Better Future’ vision.
The utility is looking for a "high calibre individual" that is “highly energetic, forward thinking and technology savvy professional to lead and inspire a team of dedicated professionals”.
The successful candidate will manage the operating and capital budgets for the organisation, as well as select and implement the IT systems, both software and hardware. They will also manage the IT service and forge collaborative relationships across the wider water industry.
Candidates must have experience in a similar role with an IT or business-related tertiary qualification, a proven track record of project delivery and the ability to head up a team of individuals.

The utility's former CIO, Marcus Darbyshire, stepped down from the position in September last year and left the company in November, according to LinkedIn. He is currently executive partner at analyst firm Gartner.
Earlier this year, fellow Victorian water retailer Yarra Valley Water was calling for applications to fill the role of CIO to oversee strategic management of the company.
