Unified comms vendor appoints Ari Bose to drive strategic IT initiatives for growth

Unified communications (UC) company has appointed Ari Bose as senior vice-president and chief information officer, with global responsibility for the vendor’s IT organisation and strategic transformation.

Bose will also oversee Polycom’s internal global visual communications network, which supports nearly 100,000 video calls per month.

Bose is no stranger to transformation. His previous role was as senior vice-president, CIO and business transformation officer with global IP-based networking and telecommunications company, UTStarcom.

During his tenure with the company, he developed a global information strategy, re-engineered business processes and systems to drive transformation, and drove the integration process for several acquisitions.

According to Polycom, Bose and his team will serve as a resource for customers on best practice UC network adoption and to Polycom’s product development team, providing input for future innovation.

“Ari joins Polycom at what we believe is an inflection point for our company and our industry,” Polycom executive vice-president and chief financial officer, Michael Kourey, said in a statement. “Ari’s leadership, technical competence, and proven track record in business transformation and efficiency make him the ideal CIO for Polycom at this exciting stage for our company.”

Bose has also held roles as vice-president and CIO at 3Com, where he led several acquisition integrations, as well as the IT integration process through a joint venture with Huawei.

He has also held senior management positions at Apple, Nortel, and Quantum.

Bose has a master’s degree in software engineering from the National University in San Diego and a bachelor’s degree from Delhi University.
