The Australian arm of global music publisher, Universal Music, has replaced its head of IT with former Pacific Magazines IT infrastructure manager, Bjorn Jacobsen.

The label had conducted a search for a replacement for previous IT director, Barry Petersen, since January.

Jacobsen moves into the role in May after a six-year stint at the publishing group.

According to a job ad placed by Universal Music Australia earlier this year, the company was looking for a highly business-savvy director with experience in a “direct to consumer” environment.

They appear to have found that in Jacobsen, whose LinkedIn profile paints extensive experience maintaining the infrastructure for 800 staff and seven sites at Pacific Magazines. There, he oversaw the implementation of a VMware-based virtualisation framework for the company while also working through a common messaging structure and implementation of common client services.

He recently completed a master’s degree in management from Charles Sturt University. He is also a current participant in the CIO Executive Council's Pathways Leadership Development program.
