Symantec nabs CA Technologies' Brenton Smith

Former managing director to lead Symantec.Cloud in APJ

Former CA Technologies Australia managing director, Brenton Smith, has jumped ship to Symantec's Cloud division.

Smith had been with the company since 2005 and resigned last week for unnamed reasons. He has been temporarily replaced by Chris Wilson, who stepped in as the acting area vice-president.

A Symantec spokesperson confirmed that Smith will be joining the company in July as the vice president of Symantec.Cloud for Asia Pacific and Japan, and will be based in Singapore.

Previous vice president, Bjorn Engelhardt, has taken on a new position as the vice president of specialist sales for Asia Pacific and Japan.

The role changes follow a number of engineering staff redundancies at Symantec's research and development office in North Sydney earlier this month.

At the time, Symantec said the engineering roles would be outsourced to its other research and development centres around the world, which include the US and India.
