Lenovo has unveiled a new Android-based tablet targeted at business customers. The Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet is equipped with a 10.1-inch, 1280x800-pixel touchscreen and runs version 3.1 of Google's Android OS ('Honeycomb'). The company has also released a consumer-focused 10.1-ihnch tablet dubbed the IdeaPad Tablet K1.

Both tablets run NVIDIA's dual-core Tegra 2 processors, versions of which have also appeared in Acer's Iconia tablets, the Motorola Xoom and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The ThinkPad Tablet incorporates both mini and full-size USB ports, an SD card slot and a mini-HDMI port. It comes with a digitiser pen and includes virtual desktop support through Citrix's Receiver software.

The tablet supports the creation of custom software images for deployment across an enterprise and incorporates remote disabling and SD card encryption.

The 16GB ThinkPad Tablet costs $599 for the Wi-Fi-only model and $729 for the 3G model. A 32GB 3G model costs $839. The tablets will be on sale from 16 August.
