Telstra and Vodafone have jumped on the 3D smartphone bandwagon announcing they will carry HTC’s EVO 3D from 20 September this year.

The Android-based device comes with a 4.3 inch "qHD screen" enabling 3D content to be played and watched without the use of the traditional 3D glasses.

The device has integrated 3D HD video capture and Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) with which stored music, pictures and user-generated HD video can be shared wirelessly with other DLNA-certified devices including HDTVs, monitors, digital cameras and printers.

It also has dual microphones for noise suppression, Google mobile services including Search, Gmail, Maps, Calendar, Voice Actions, YouTube and Video Chat as well as access to the Android market for apps.

It has twin five megapixel (MP) cameras for 3D capture and a front facing 1.3 MP camera. Additionaly,l it has some 3D movies and games pre-loaded and content can be purchased from HTC's video streaming service, Watch, when it becomes available in Australia later this year.

Pricing for the device on both carriers will be announced closer to the launch date.
