Following numerous acquisitions over the last 12 months, fibre wholesaler Vocus Communications (ASX:VOC) has posted a 77 per cent increase in revenue to $33.98 million for the year ending 30 June 2011.
Net profits after tax (NPAT) jumped some 113 per cent from $3.8 million in FY2010, to $8.1 million for the year ending 30 June 2011.
Earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) also grew from $8.14 million to $13.48 million for the 12 month period.
In a statement to the ASX, Vocus chief executive, James Spenceley, said the company had focused heavily on acquisitions to build global internet use and expand the company’s product range to include data centres and dark fibre.
The wholesaler launched itself into the data centre space last year with the purchase of E3 Networks’ data centres in both Melbourne and Sydney for some $5.9 million. Following this, the company opened its first data centre in the same building as E3 Networks’ existing Alexandria data centre in December.
Earlier this year, Vocus moved to expand its data centre services across the country, acquiring Perth iX for $7 million, while in May, it spent almost $4 million on the buy of dark fibre operator Digital River Networks.
According to Spenceley, the company will continue to diversify and leverage into newly acquired businesses and products in the future.
