Nokia N9 mobile phone
Nokia has revealed that its N9 smartphone will be available on Optus, Telstra and Vodafone, as well as from a range of retailers including Dick Smith, JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman.
The Nokia N9 runs the Linux-based MeeGo operating system. The open source mobile platform is a joint effort by Nokia and Intel, building on the companies' Maemo and Moblin projects. Along with the Maemo-derived smartphone edition of MeeGo, a version is available for netbooks.

Nokia's last Maemo-based device was the N900.
In October 2010 Nokia confirmed that its first MeeGo handset would arrive in 2011.
Earlier this year the Finish phone giant announced that its mobile focus would be on handsets designed for Microsoft's Windows Phone 7, phasing out support for the Symbian platform that has been the mainstay for Nokia phones.
The Nokia N9 is equipped with a 3.9-inch AMOLED touchscreen; larger than the 3.5-inch iPhone 4.
The handset is equipped with a Near Field Communication (NFC) chip. However, the chip is designed for sharing content and paring accessories with the phone, not mobile payments.
The 16GB Nokia N9 will have a recommended retail price of $799; a 64GB model will also be available. There is currently no word on the Nokia N9 Australian release date.
