Dimension Data completes acquisition of BlueFire, Netforce

No redundancies expected at this stage

Systems integrator, Dimension Data, has reassured staff at Cloud hosting services companies BlueFire and Netforce that it will be business as usual following its final shareholding acquisition for an undisclosed sum.

The company made its first investment in BlueFire during 2008. In 2010, Dimension Data took another shareholder stake and, at the same time, acquired a majority stake in Netforce, as the two companies merged that year.

In-depth: Cloud computing strategy guide.

Dimension Data Australia chief executive, Steve Nola, said in a statement that BlueFire’s 85 staff, and management would remain “unchanged by the full acquisition”, and that his company would continue to market BlueFire’s hosted and Cloud computing services suite in the Australian market.

Based in Sydney, BlueFire has 500 small and medium business (SMB) customers across Australia, Asia, and the Pacific. Its services include productivity application hosting, email security, desktop as a service, hosted telephony, Cloud storage, disaster recovery, private networks, disaster and backup recovery.

With the full acquisition, BlueFire is now part of Dimension Data’s Cloud solutions business unit, together with OpSource, the US-based Cloud company it acquired in June 2011.
