Motorola Mobility today launched the Xoom 2 Android tablet in Australia. The Motorola Xoom 2 is a 10.1-inch tablet that runs version 3.2 ('Honeycomb') of Google's Android mobile platform.
The 3G-capable tablet runs a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, faster than the dual-core 1GHz processor found in the original Motorola Xoom. The tablet includes 1GB of RAM as well as 32GB of integrated storage, which can be expanded using the microSD card slot that supports cards of up to 32GB in capacity. At just 8.8mm it is slimmer than the original Xoom, which was 12.9mm thick
According to Motorola the tablet will be upgradeable to Android 4.0 — Ice Cream Sandwich — "in the future".
The Motorola Xoom 2 will be available for purchase from Telstra outright for $720 as well as on a range of post-paid 24-month plans starting from $49 (including tablet repayments).
