An National Broadband Network (NBN) training centre in Adelaide has been opened today.
The centre will provide free advice to local residents, small-to-medium-sized businesses and not-for-profit organisations about how to use the NBN and its benefits.
It has been funded by the federal government, which provided $639,300 to Adelaide City Council for the centre under the $15.2 million Digital Hubs and Enterprise program.
“These hubs allow all of us to learn about the NBN and embrace the opportunities it presents,” Kate Ellis, federal member for Adelaide, said in a statement.
“[The centre] provides a comprehensive and up-to-date training program to help individuals and businesses engage confidently and safely online. It comes hard on the heels of our co-funding of a city-wide Wi-Fi network and complements the council’s commitment to make Adelaide a well-connected and engaged city,” Stephen Yarwood, Lord Mayor, said in a statement.
Up to 44 communities around Australia have received funding under the Digital Hub and Enterprise program.
