Mobile use of social networking exploding: Telstra

Mobile access to social networking sites on Telstra’s 3G network has grown by triple digits in the past year, the operator has announced.

Mobile access to Facebook has grown by 390% since April 2009, while Twitter access has grown 450%, according to research on the browsing habits of its five million 3G customers.

But mobile Facebook browsing remains far more popular than Twitter and other social networking sites.

MySpace usage grew by 230%.

Telstra today launched a new mobile social networking service, Tribe, which combines accessibility to Facebook, Twitter and MySpacce.
