Asciano wins 10 year coal haulage contract

Transport infrastructure operator Asciano Group (AIO) has secured a 10 year contract to provide coal haulage services for the Isaac Plains coal project.

The contract was awarded by Isaac Plains Coal Management, a joint venture between Aquila Resources and Vale.

Asciano has committed to providing a rail haulage capacity of 1.1 million tonnes per year, with shipments starting July 1, 2010.

With the contract win, Asciano has signed its fifth Queensland coal haulage customer, the company said.

AIO stock has risen 3.6% today to $1.75.
