EB Games supports push for R rating for games

Game retail chain EB Games Australia has leaned its support for the push to introduce an R18+ classification for games, posting a petition in each of its 350 stores and on its online storefront.

EB has joined forces with Grow Up Australia to solicit submissions to the discussion paper on the issue released by the federal Attorney General’s department.

The parties said they had received over 2500 responses yesterday, and 3500 responses overall since the release of the form.

EB managing director Steve Wilson said the company had decided to support the issue because “our customers asked us to.”

He added that the discussion paper presented a rare opportunity to influence the debate. “Once this Government paper is closed, it could be many years before we get another chance to voice our opinion on this issue. The time to be heard is now,” he said.
