Shares microdot developer DataDot (ASX:DDT) have swelled 18% since the company announced its JV partner had won a contract with Elders Primary Wool New Zealand.
DataTraceDNA, a JV between DataDot and the CSIRO, said its licensee for textile applications, VTT Marketing, has signed a deal with Elders for its “Just Shorn” brand of carpets.
The 10-year license will see the carpets embedded with textile signatures only able to be identified using a specialized digital reader.
VTT Marketing executive director John Pettengill said counterfeiting within the fashion sector represented one of the biggest challenges to brand protection.
DDT shares are currently trading at $0.046.
