Electro Optic Systems (ASX:EOS) has announced it will partner an ANU research unit to develop the optics system for the Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT).
In a market update, the company said it had reached an in-principle agreement to co-develop an adaptive optics system for the Mount Stromlo project with the ANU’s Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics.
The government has committed $88.4 million in funding for construction of the GMT.
EOS has separately been awarded part of a $2.8 million grant for its work on tracking space debris during the Australian Space Research Program. EOS is part of a consortium of eight companies and educational facilities, which will share the grant.
