The federal government has proposed extending the price-caps on Telstra's fixed-line phone calls and line rentals for a further two years.
Under the current legislation, the controls are set to expire on June 30.
But communications minister Stephen Conroy said the upper-limit price controls of 22 cents per local call from landlines and 50 cents per payphone sould stay in place.
Telstra is also prevented from charging too high a rate for long-distance and IDD calls.
The ACCC had suggested earlier this year that the price controls should stay in place. But its other suggestion of streamlining the current regulatory arrangement will not be implemented, Conroy said.
