Hutchison Telecom Australia (ASX:HTA), joint owner of Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA), has revealed that the mobile venture generated profit of $17.9 million for Hutchison in the first six months of calendar 2010.
Hutchison Australia's share of VHA's ebitda was $222.7 million – resulting in a 127% year-on-year ebitda increase for the former. HTA's share of the service revenue was $1.071 nillion.
VHA now has 7.43 million customers, Hutchison Australia reported, with 539,000 of these added in the half-year.
The venture's balance sheet was buoyed by a surge in mobile data usage – VHA's data and non-voice service revenue grew 42% to $432.3 million.
