iiNet launches e-commerce solution for SMBs

ISP iiNet (ASX:IIN) has launched a new service to allow its small business customers to build an online shopping presence.

The company has debuted a white-label online shopping cart solution.

The service, which starts at $39 per month, can process payments from all major Australian banks, as well as PayPal.

It also includes eBay functionality, and is integrated with Australia Post to provide automatic calculation of shipping costs.

iiNet's business general manager, Steve Harley, said iiNet's goal with the service is to allow even people without web development experience to build e-commerce websites.

The online shopping market is valued at around $26.86 billion and is growing rapidly, he said. “Small businesses can't afford not to have an online presence.”

The launch has been timed to coincide with the Christmas rush, he added.

iiNet's small business unit contributed $36.5 million to iiNet's FY10 revenue of $473.8 million, according to the company's annual report. The unit concentrates on SOHOs and businesses with fewer than 25 staff.

IIN shares on Friday closed 3.51% lower at $2.750.
