Macquarie Telecom Enters Strategic Relationship With TZ Limited

Macquarie Telecom and TZ Limited have entered a strategic relationship that will see Macquarie adopt TZ Centurion™ System as the micro-protection solution for its Intellicentre 2 data centre facility at Macquarie Park in Sydney. Intellicentre2 is a Macquarie built and owned high-tech, purpose data centre estimated at around $60 million. The data centre is the first of its kind in Australia to receive Tier III Design Certification by the Uptime Institute.

The agreement commits Macquarie Telecom to using the TZ Centurion™ System on at least 95% of its cabinets installed at the 20,000 square meters Intellicentre 2 facility. The first order of TZ SlideHandles has already been placed and will be integrated as part of a TZ Ready cabinet supply program with Macquarie Telecom’s cabinet provider, stated an ASX release. The supply will be undertaken through TZ’s distribution partner, Anixter Australia Pty Limited. Macquarie recently added a fourth data centre to the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) panel. James Mystakidis, General Manager of Hosting, Macquarie Telecom, noted that data Centre security is the company’s forte through which it employs multiple security measures to enhance physical security.

TZ Centurion solution is a critical part of Macquarie’s offering in terms of maintaining the first-class standards required, including the highest level of accredited security needed for critical application hosting and the protection of IT infrastructure and intellectual assets, said Mystakidis. Macquarie Telecom reported net profits after tax of $11.1 million for the six months ended 31 December 2011, a 13.8 per cent hike on the previous corresponding period. The company’s reported EBITDA rose 4 per cent to $21.1 million, up from $20.3 million on the previous corresponding period. Despite the gains, the company’s total revenue dropped 3.1 per cent from $115.8 million to $112.2 million.
