Coles has appointed Rob Scott, managing director of Wesfarmers Insurance, as its new finance director.
Scott will commence his new role in February and will replace outgoing finance director Tony Buffin who is to accept a senior role with Travis Perkins, a top 50 listed company in the United Kingdom.
Coles’ managing director, Ian McLeod, said the company had searched for candidates internally and externally and chose Scott because “he has the best credentials to oversee Coles’ finance, IT and property functions and our growing and increasingly important financial services business”.
Wesfarmers’ managing director, Richard Goyder, said Scott has “demonstrated exceptional financial skills and business leadership” when it comes to improving operational performance and building growth in the company during “an extremely challenging period for the entire insurance industry”.
Scott has previously worked in investment banking at Deutsche Bank in Australia and Asia for seven years, and has been with Wesfarmers Insurance for about six years.
