NBN Co has signed a $17.9 million contract with ISG Management to connect apartments to the National Broadband Network (NBN) in the Northern Territory and Queensland.
ISGM will provide project development services, such as notifying residents and owners’ corporations of the new NBN services. The company will also provide survey, design and construction services in a one-year contract with a one-year extension.
It is the fourth contract NBN Co has signed for connecting multi-dwelling units (MDU) to the NBN after revealing last October that it did not have a uniform strategy of connecting MDUs to the network.
“Every MDU looks different – there is not one method of connecting MDUs and installation methodology evolves rapidly. Therefore, what we do today can change over time because there will be no efficient way of doing this,” Ralph Steffens, chief operating officer at NBN Co, told a Joint Committee on the NBN.
NBN Co has signed a contract worth up to $27.7 million with Daly International to provide NBN services to MDUs in Western Australia, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. It has also inked contracts with Downer EDI for MDUs in NSW, Victoria and the ACT, and with Universal Communications Group Limited in Tasmania and Sydney.
An agreement between NBN Co and Strata Community Australia will also allow members and non-members to register buildings scheduled for installation.
