Brisbane City Council is looking for a CIO with strong collaboration skills to drive change and deliver on business outcomes.
The CIO will report to the divisional manager, organisational services and will drive “a high performing culture of collaboration and participation” while “working collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver key initiatives”, according to the job advertisement on Seek.
The CIO job opening comes amid IT staff cuts that occurred in February this year. Fifty-five backend IT staff lost their jobs after the council decided to outsource their roles to Indian firm HCL.
The roles that are being outsourced are in the areas of application services, centralised computing and distributed computing at the council’s information services branch.
Brisbane City Council forecast it will save $7.9 million over the next five years by outsourcing these roles.
The current CIO, Nick Brant, has been with Brisbane City Council since 2010 and has worked on a number of IT projects that are underway. These include an ERP transformation, a replacement CRM solution for the city’s contact centre, an electronic document and records management system and has piloted mobile computing solutions.
He also migrated the council from a Novell/Groupwise environment to a Microsoft/Exchange environment for 10,000-plus mailboxes.
A Brisbane City Council spokesperson said Brant will leave his role on 10 August due to personal circumstances.
"A Council officer will relieve as the CIO whilst recruitment is undertaken to fill the position."
