National Australia Bank (NAB) confirmed today that CIO Denis McGee has resigned and will leave the bank at the end of this year.
McGee was promoted from CTO to CIO in April 2013 as part of a senior management reshuffle. He has been with NAB since 2008.
At the time, a spokesperson said that changes were made to NAB’s senior management team to allow it to focus on “simplification and digitisation”.
McGee was responsible for NAB’s data centre transformation, virtual contact centre and shift to consumption-based pricing model for technology and communications services.
According to NAB enterprise services and transformation group executive Lisa Gray, it was the “right time” for McGee to pursue his next challenge.
“The end of 2013 is a natural juncture in NAB’s technology plans,” she said in a statement.
“Denis is well-recognised, here at NAB and more widely, for his contribution to the technology industry. He will leave behind a considerable legacy, in terms of outcomes and as a leader and mentor.”
NAB is now looking for a new CIO.
The bank is currently four years into its IT transformation program which includes an overhaul of the core banking system, applications, infrastructure and networks.
