Federal Police tenders for database management system

Central Traffic Ledger database management system needed for AFP's ACT Policing Traffic Operations team

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is looking for a database management system provider to help ACT Policing Traffic Operations manage its data.

The ACT team conducts a number of tests on a person and collects samples such as breath, blood and oral fluid to be used as evidence in court.

The data is manually reproduced onto separate internal databases and spreadsheets for ongoing management such as reports and notifications.

“The implementation of a central Traffic Ledger database management system would eliminate different formats of recording, duplication of information and enable utilisation of a standard central records management solution,” read the tender document.

The system would be hosted on AFP’s corporate network where authorised team members can access it any time in multiple locations in the Canberra region using standard AFP computers and operating systems.

Police need to record, modify, store and export data into Excel, CSV (comma-separated value) and a dashboard report.

They also need to search for specific words within textual information; sort search results alphabetically, chronologically, by relevancy and relationships; search a wide range of single and multiple fields, apply spell check to searches, search for unstructured information, etc, the tender document said.

Different user access levels would be assigned to different roles within the team that would allow them to carry out specific functions such as produce reports, modify data, view blood tests, design templates, etc.

The system would support 1000 users and 100 concurrent users, with audits logs of all users’ activity within the system.

The provider would also need to include an incremental backup system for the database files.

The tender closes on 30 May, 2pm (ACT time). Implementation of the system is expected to take place mid-2014.
