LG Electronics is planning to show three monitors at IFA in Berlin, including a curved ultrawide model and a new 4K display.

Curved displays and 4K screens in all shapes and sizes are expected to be big trends at IFA, as vendors are pushing down prices in bids to convince consumers to open their wallets.

On Monday, LG said it would unveil the world's first curved monitor with an extra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio. The screen measures 34 inches diagonally and has 3440 by 1440 pixel resolution.

As with other curved TVs and monitors, LG promises that the 34UC97 will offer a more immersive experience. The screen will be compatible with both PCs and Macs (thanks to a Thunderbolt 2 port).

LG will also introduce the Digital Cinema 4K Monitor -- also known as the 31MU97 -- which has a 31-inch screen and 4096 by 2160 pixel resolution. It can reproduce 99 percent of the Adobe RGB color space and includes calibration software, LG said.

LG has also developed a monitor with gamers in mind, the 24GM77. It has a 24-inch screen and a refresh rate of 144Hz, which ensures smooth and flicker-free performance, according to LG.

The company is holding off announcing more performance details, for now, nor is it saying what the new monitors will cost or when they will ship. But it has scheduled a press event for Sept. 4 in Berlin.
