Telstra on Monday said the Cisco Intercloud platform is now in live trial mode for selected customers in Australia, which the telco has declined to name.
In March, Telstra was announced as the first partner worldwide to use Cisco’s $1 billion global cloud service, hosted across a global network of Cisco and partner data centres.
The telco also said the Cisco Cloud Services platform can now also be used by customers in Hong Kong and Singapore. Based on Cisco’s OpenStack platform, the service adds a public cloud offering to Telstra’s existing capabilities in Australia, Asia, and Europe.
Cisco previously claimed it will support any workload, on any hypervisor and interoperate with any public and private cloud. The company also said its network of clouds address rising data sovereignty concerns.
Erez Yarkoni, executive director, cloud at Telstra, said development of the Cisco Intercloud has progressed well in Australia, and the offering made the transition to hybrid and public clouds easier to manage.
“Our aim is to take the complexity out of connecting to the cloud,” he said.
