MetLife appoints new IT infrastructure head

Latest hire to boost the insurer’s digital and data capabilities

MetLife Insurance has appointed Matthew O’Halloran as its new head of IT infrastructure as the insurer builds a team to support its digital and data capabilities, which will underpin its future growth in Australia.

O’Halloran joins the company from Toyota Financial Services, where he was most recently head of infrastructure. He is reporting to MetLife CIO, Mathews George.

Earlier this year, Metlife also appointed Oliver Johnston as head of business intelligence and data governance and Aaron Fuller as head of data and digital.

MetLife Australia CEO, Deanne Stewart, said the additions to the team represent the company’s focus on improving digital and data capabilities.

“Use of technology is a growing strategic priority across the industry. Our new hires demonstrate our commitment to beefing up both our digital and data arsenal to ensure we are best positioned to capture opportunities in our sector,” Stewart said.

“With sophisticated technology, we can understand our customers, systems and processes better than ever before. The expertise Matthew, Oliver and Aaron bring to the team will allow us to take a smarter approach to data and digital, resulting in improved digital consultation for our clients.”
