IT issue delays release of Medibank tax statements

A glitch in Medibank’s IT systems is likely to prevent the health insurer from providing annual tax statements to the majority of its customers by July 15.

The organisation said on Thursday that it is experiencing a “reporting issue” related to the completion of a major technology upgrade.

Medibank CEO, Craig Drummond, said in a statement that the situation was a result of customer data migration and was unacceptable for customers.

“I sincerely apologise to our customers for this disruption. It is important for our customers to know their personal data has not been compromised,” he said.

“Our team is working around the clock to resolve the issue and I want to assure customres that our focus is on minimising the impact this will have on them,” he said.

Medibank said it would provide further updates over the coming days and has asked customers wishing to find out more information to go to www.medibank.com.au.

AHM customers are not affected by the issue, the company said.
