You're out of touch! IT decision-makers tell c-suite

9 out of 10 ITDMs in Australia believe their current c-suite should be more tech-savvy

The c-suite is out of touch and holding us back say majority of Australian IT decision-makers, according to a survey.

Nine out of ten IT decision-makers thought their organisation would perform better if their current c-suite were more tech-savvy, a Wakefield research report commissioned by Juniper Networks revealed.

That sentiment was supported most strongly by those working for service providers, closely followed by those working in the retail industry and financial services.

In Australia, more IT decision makers than any other country (85 per cent) said they believed their c-suite did not view the company IT network as vital to success.

The survey of 2704 respondents globally, 300 of which were from Australia, found that most IT staff felt their executive leadership should invest more in IT infrastructure if their company wanted to innovate.

More than 90 per cent of Australian IT decision-makers were concerned that their IT infrastructure would be an obstacle if their competitors released a superior product or service, higher than the global average (77 per cent).

Globally, ITDMs believed the main reasons their company was not upgrading IT infrastructures were related to budget, security and compliance, legacy network technology and a lack of employee skills.
