Telstra is launching a cloud management platform to give businesses an overview of their private and public cloud services.
The telco, which has launched a slew of cloud services in recent months, said the platform is in response to a growing number of companies adopting a hybrid cloud approach.
“With more than 65 per cent of enterprises looking to implement hybrid cloud architectures by 2017, we think Telstra’s Cloud Management Platform will be a big help for our customers who need to overcome the many complexities associated with managing these environments,” said Michelle Bendschneider, Telstra’s executive director, global products.
The platform, which is based on RightScale and will be available in Australia from next month, allows users to monitor applications across multiple cloud resources, and automate how workloads respond and scale to demand.
Its analytics, the company said, would help businesses identify efficiencies and reduce costs.
Bendschneider added that cloud management was an ‘obvious next step’ for Telstra’s multi-cloud strategy.
Last month, Telstra launched Cloud Gateway to make it easier for its business customers to directly connect to cloud platforms using the telco’s network.
“Over the last few years, Telstra has invested heavily to bring together our leading global network, cloud infrastructure and data centre capabilities with the world’s most popular public cloud platforms, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, IBM Softlayer and VMware vCloud Air1,” said Bendschneider.
“By combining these clouds with the connection and security capabilities of Cloud Gateway and the management tools from this new platform, we can provide customers with the choice, control and confidence they need to truly embrace the cloud.”
The telco has made a number of technology acquisitions over the last few years such as Readify, Kloud, O2 Networks, Bridge Point Communications and NSC Group. In May it announced it had acquired data centre security firm vArmour.
