QBE signs three year deal with Optus

Optus will deliver voice, mobile and data network services to the group’s 4,000 staff across 42 locations

Major Australian insurer QBE has signed a three-year ICT services deal with Optus.

Optus will deliver voice, mobile and data network services to the group’s 4,000 staff across 42 locations.

“QBE is committed to a continued focus on innovation in the insurance services market in Australia. The strategic partnership with Optus will support QBE’s strategy to offer more personalised and compelling customer experiences,” Tony Forward, QBE’s CIO said in a statement.

Optus Business managing director John Paitaridis said: “We’re delighted with the new three year partnership between QBE Australia and Optus, and look forward to supporting QBE with a range of ICT services to support their business growth, speed to market and superior customer service.”

QBE is aiming to ‘unleash innovation’, said Forward, and keep up with the disruption heading for the insurance business. The company rolled out a responsive website in March this year in a bid to enhance and personalise the customer experience across all devices.

Forward, who leads an IT team of around 250 employees said late last year that the group was making ‘big investments in core systems’.

The group has been operating a hybrid cloud architecture and using Microsoft Azure Active Directory for its enterprise mobility strategy. The company increasingly uses Skype for Business for video conferencing and rolled out Office 365 to all its staff in Australia and New Zealand at the end of last year.

The value of the Optus deal was not disclosed.
