The University of Western Australia has created a new chief digital and information officer (CDIO) position to replace its existing CIO role as part of a broader restructure process at UWA.
The university’s CIO, Assine George, has resigned and will depart early next year, a UWA spokesperson said.
George has held the CIO role since September 2014. Prior to taking up her position at UWA she was The Benevolent Society’s chief information officer. George has been approached for comment about her future plans.
UWA has begun recruiting for the new CDIO, who will report to the executive director of Corporate Services.
The CDIO will be “responsible for providing strategic leadership and management of best practice IT and digital activity in order to support the activities of the University and improve operational effectiveness,” a position description for the role states.
A key requirement will be to design and implement a comprehensive IT and digital strategy so that the university is well positioned for its future growth, the document states.
