Kevin Millroy new Vodafone CTO

Millroy was previously general manager, access network delivery

Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA) has appointed Kevin Millroy as chief technology officer, replacing Benoit Hanssen, who left the organisation in July.

Millroy, who has been acting CTO since August, was formerly general manager, access network delivery, responsible for the roll out of network upgrade and expansion projects, including the Mobile Black Spot Program.

His new priorities as CTO will include the ongoing expansion of VHA’s network, delivering fixed broadband in 2017, contribution to the rollout of the fibre transmission network and preparing for 5G, VHA CEO Inaki Berroeta said.

“Kevin is highly experience, with more than thirty years working in the telecommunications industry globally, and I congratulate him on his appointment to the executive team,” Berroeta said.

Prior to joining VHA, Millroy spent just over 6 years as Cornerstone. Prior to that, he was program director at Ericssson/MBNL and worked in regional operations at Cellnet.

Hanssen – who was CTO for three years and led the transformation of VHA’s network – has joined the Hutchison group.
