The Chrysler Group, makers of vehicles such as Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep, has signed on with Siemens PLM for its product design and development platform.
Chrysler Group began using the Teamcenter digital lifecycle management software as its company-wide process device management system in 2008. The software aims to provide a single source of product knowledge across an enterprise.
The new deal means Chrysler Group will add the vendor’s digital product development solution, NX software, to help gain efficiencies in engineering and design and create a common product development platform.
“Integration of this tool will help to enhance our ability to collectively engineer new products with improved quality and faster time to market,” Chrysler Group senior vice-president for engineering, Scott Kunselman, said in a statement.
The technology is used by automakers and suppliers to collaborate, plan, design and validate the development and manufacturing engineering of vehicles.
