Huawei hunts out Australian chief security officer

Huawei has begun searching for a chief security officer (CSO) to be based in either Sydney, Canberra or Melbourne.
The company advertised the role on Techworld on 8 June along with other job sites.
According to the job description, the candidate would report to the chief technology officer and provide security risk analysis on products and services. The role would also involve audits of network technology, incident response and investigation of security breaches, audit existing processes and maintaining relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement government agencies.
A spokesperson for the company said the role was a newly created one and was been driven by the company's expansion in Australia.
Recently it announced a newly created Australian board, with former politicians Alexander Downer and John Brumby, as well as current chairperson of DMS Maritime Services, John Lord, being selected.
"We felt the need to have someone overseeing all aspects of our security. There are no plans to hire any other security staff at this stage," said the spokesperson.
He would not say when Huawei would make an appointment.
