In brief: Red Hat announces general avalibility of Enterprise Linux 6.2

Red Hat has announced the general availability of its Enterprise Linux 6.2, as it begins work on version 7.

Linux 6, which launched a year ago and has achieved the largest multi-core Linux configuration, is able to support large, mission-critical enterprise computing, Red Hat’s vice president and general manager of the platform business unit, Jim Totton, claimed.

“Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 can run their enterprise workloads with high performance across physical, virtual and Cloud computing environments,” he said.

The 6.2 upgrade will also provide for additional management of systems resources, which allows for more efficient management of SLAs.

Plans are also in place for the development of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7; the next major release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Additional features will be based on customer feedback posted on its customer portal.
