IBM, Melbourne Uni enter research partnership

IBM and the University of Melbourne have entered a partnership to develop life science research capabilities.

Under the agreement, IBM will boost the research and supercomputing capabilities of the University of Melbourne’s Victorian Life Sciences Computation Initiative.

IBM will establish an IBM Collaboratory at the university, and provide a Blue Gene supercomputer for research scientists.

This marks the first time IBM has entered into a life sciences research partnership anywhere in the world, and will be IBM’s first Collaboratory in the Southern Hemisphere.
