Downer EDI wins $900m mining services deal

Engineering and infrastructure management services company Downer EDI (ASX:DOW) has won a contract worth at least $900 million to provide mining services for Idemitsu Australia.

Downer EDI has been chosen to provide services for the open coal mine at Boggabri in New South Wales.

The company said the exact value of the contract will depend on the mine's production output, but the base case values revenue at $900 million.

The required capital equipment will include $31 million of existing plant and equipment plus new equipment to the value of $114 million over the three years until 2014.

Work starts in December 2011, Downer said. DOW shares fell 0.63% to $4.720 following the announcement.
