Boral and HP sign IT outsourcing agreement

HP will provide Boral with outsourcing infrastructure, following an announcement by Boral in January this year that it would outsource some IT jobs.

The Australian Financial Review reported that the building and construction products company would outsource 40 in-house IT jobs.

HP will provide a range of services and hardware, which will be delivered from HP’s Aurora data centre in Sydney, in a five-year contract.

Services will include data centre services, 24/7 network monitoring and support, workplace services, security services and enterprise service management.

“Reliance and demand on our existing technology has continued to evolve, and we needed to ensure we had the right assets and IT capabilities to support our business,” Boral CIO, David Oxnam, said in a statement.

“HP’s ability to provide a unified, end-to-end solution of core business services and hardware will allow us to optimise our systems and deliver improved access to operational capabilities. This will enable IT to deliver a better service to our business and, in turn, our customers.”

The contract with HP follows Boral’s decision to cut around 1000 jobs from its workforce, with around 700 cut from its Australian division.
