Orica appoints Craig Elkington as CFO

Noel Meehan will depart from the company in October 2013

Craig Elkington, Orica Limited's executive global head, mining services, will take over the role of CFO from Noel Meehan who will leave the company in October this year.

Elkington started working with Orica in 1994 where he worked his way up from working in corporate accounting to senior finance, commercial and executive roles. He previously was CFO of the company's former subsidiary Incitec Ltd, the chemicals division and Orica Mining Services.

In 2008, Elkington became president of Orica Mining Services, in Denver, North America. He took the role of chief executive officer, Minova in Australia in April 2011, and was appoint to his current position in June 2012.

Meehan has been with the company since 1999 in various senior management roles and became executive director of finance in September 2005. He was former CFO of Orica Chemicals, Orica group investor relations manager and corporate reporting manager.

He has also held finance roles with Qantas Airways Limited and Australian Airlines Limited.

Orica CEO Ian Smith said in a statement that he thanks Meehan "on a personal level" for his support since he became CEO with the company in February 2012 and his "significant contribution" to Orica.

The company is currently recruiting for a for a executive global head, mining services.
